There is a number of different types of stairs to choose from, each with their own benefits:
Straight Stairs generally have one straight flight of stairs, or sometimes two separated by a landing part way without any changes in direction. The design doesn’t need any support, an attachment at the bottom and the top is all it needs. They are certainly one of the most common types of stairs found in both residential and commercial properties.
Winder Stairs are similar to a L-Shaped Stairs, but instead of landing they have a curved or triangle-shaped treads. Winders turn by 90-degrees (single winder) or 180- degrees (double winder).
L-Shaped Stairs are basically a straight stairs with a turn. In this design, the stairs make a 90-degree turn at some point, going left or right after a landing.
U-Shaped Stairs are two parallel flights of stairs joined by a 180-degrees turn landing. They are also known as the half-turn stairs.
Spiral Stairs are design-centered around a single post to which all steps are attached. When looked at from above, they forms a perfect circle. They are perfect for minimal spaces.
Curved Stairs don’t have a landing but instead feature a continuous set of stairs which follow the bend of the handrail. They have a larger radius but don’t form a full circle.
Alternating Tread Stairs are space saving stairs commonly seen in residential, industrial and commercial properties. They can provide a convenient way of reaching an attic, basement or other space where a standard staircase wouldn’t fit.
Split stairs are usually used in the entrance of a large home, this design typically begins with a single wide set of steps that splits into two narrower flights going in opposite directions at a central landing.
